HDFC Hikes Retail Prime Lending Rates for 3rd Time in a Month; Home Loan EMIs to Go Up

0

[ad_1]

India’s largest housing finance company HDFC on Wednesday, June 1, said that it has increased its retail prime lending rate (RPLR) on housing loans by 5 basis points. The Retail Prime Lending Rate (RPLR) on Housing loans, on which its Adjustable Rate Home Loans (ARHL) are benchmarked, has been increased with effect from June 1, HDFC said in a filing with the BSE. This is the third time in a month that HDFC has hiked its home loan rates. Previously on May 2, it had hiked the same by 5 basis points and on May 9 the home loan rates were increased by 30 basis points.

“HDFC increases its Retail Prime Lending Rate (RPLR) on Housing loans, on
which its Adjustable Rate Home Loans (ARHL) are benchmarked, by 5 basis
points, with effect from June 1, 2022,” the mortgage company said in the BSE filing.

The latest HDFC Retail Prime Lending Rate hike will result in an increase of home loan EMIs for borrowers by 0.05 per cent. This comes after the Reserve Bank of India in an off cycle MPC meeting last month increased its repo rates by 40 basis points. The move also comes days before the scheduled RBI MPC meet, where the central bank is again expected to raise the rates to tame rising inflation across India.

Here are the Revised Adjustable Rate Home Loans (Effective from June 1 Onwards):

i) For loans of up to Rs 30 lakhs, female customers will be charged an interest rate of 7.05 per cent, as opposed to the 7 per cent earlier, an increase of 5 basis points. For other customers, the interest rates have been hiked by 5 basis ponts to 7.10 per cent up from 7.05 per cent rate earlier.

ii) For loans above Rs 30 lakh and below Rs 75 lakh, women borrowers will have to pay an interest at the rate of 7.35 per cent, in contrast with the earlier 7.30 per cent. This is an increase of 5 basis points as well. For other customers, the interest rates have been hiked by 30 basis points to 7.40 per cent up from 7.35 per cent rate earlier.

iii) In case of loans above Rs 75 lakh, borrowers who are women will be required to pay an interest rate of 7.45 per cent, up from the earlier 7.40 per cent — in an increase of 30 basis points. For other customers, the interest rates have been hiked by 30 basis points to 7.50 per cent up from 7.45 per cent rate earlier.

What are Retail Prime Lending Rate and Adjustable Rate Home Loans?

Retail Prime Lending Rate is the rate at which housing finance companies give loans to their customers who are most creditworthy. When lenders give out their loans to the customers, RPLR is considered the benchmark against those rates. A revision in these rates would mean a subsequent increase in EMIs.

ARHL, or Adjustable Rate Home Loan, is a loan that has a floating or variable interest rates. HDFC goes by a three-month cycle for adjusting its loan rates to existing borrowers. Therefore, the lender will reprice the loans on the basis of the date of the first disbursement for different customers.

Here are the Risks of Being a People Pleaser

A people pleaser is someone who continually attempts to keep others happy in all situations (Image: Shutterstock)

A people pleaser is someone who has a tremendous desire to please others.

A people pleaser is someone who continually attempts to keep others happy in all situations. Such individuals always step in to help others and at times at the cost of their own comfort or needs. They often try to remain in the good books of others.

The urge to please others stems from a feeling of insecurity, rejection and poor self-esteem. The drive to make everyone else happy may also sometimes arise from a lack of contentment inside.

People pleasers may be perfectionists who want everything to be flawless, including how they are regarded by others. People-pleasing may arise from fundamental childhood ideas that you must make others happy in order to be worthy of their affection or that if you cease people-pleasing, you would be abandoned or uncared for. People-pleasers may not always require others to do things for them or anticipate anything in return for their help.

However, people-pleasing behaviour has many risks and it may affect an individual’s personality in a negative way. Here are a few risks the people pleasers face.

Stress: Stress happens when a person fails to find a solution to a problem. People pleasers are likely to have a long to-do list or many tasks in the pipeline due to their effort to help others. This in the long run could lead to stress as they may not be able to finish all tasks at hand.

Passive aggressiveness: People who feel they have no option but to satisfy others may develop resentment for their role, which may lead to frustration at times. This might emerge as passive-aggressiveness, which occurs when someone displays anger indirectly. When someone is dissatisfied, it might have an impact on their relationships as well.

Low self-esteem: People who spend a lot of time worrying about pleasing others may lose sight of what they want or how they feel. This might imply that they are less aware of their own needs. Evaluating oneself from the viewpoint of others may often keep people-pleasers under emotional pressure. The fear of not being able to please others and getting rejected by them may lead to low self-esteem and personality disorders.

Reasons Behind Delayed or Irregular Menstrual Cycle

0

[ad_1]

There are many factors from changes in sleeping cycle to stress which can affect the menstrual cycle. Being pregnant is a possible reason for a missed period but there are also other factors that affect your menstrual cycle. The common causes can range from hormonal imbalances to serious medical conditions. As your body goes through transitions, your menstrual cycle can become irregular. A healthy menstrual cycle can range from every 21 to 40 days. If your period gets delayed beyond this time period then it could be an indication of some medical conditions.

Here are a few reasons that may cause delayed or irregular menstrual cycle.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a condition that causes your body to produce more of the male hormone androgen. Due to the hormonal imbalance, cysts form on the ovaries and this can make ovulation irregular. Consult your doctor who will prescribe the right medication to help regulate your cycle.

Stress

Chronic stress can affect your menstrual cycle. Chronic stress activates the hormone known as cortisol, which can lead to delayed or missed periods.

Excess exercise

Regular exercise is a great way to maintain overall wellness. However, suddenly increased exercise may lead to lower estrogen levels, which can impact ovulation and menstruation.

Weight fluctuations

Whether you are underweight or overweight, a change in body weight can affect your monthly cycle. Diseases like eating disorders and diabetes, which also cause a significant fluctuation in weight, often lead to irregular menstruation. If you think this might be the reason, you should think about consulting a physician.

Change in sleeping schedule

Working hours have not been the same anymore, switching to night shifts or traveling to another time zone may hit the menstrual cycle.

Perimenopause

Women who are entering perimenopause, the first stage of menopause, may experience infrequent or late periods. The menstrual cycle gets delayed or irregular due to the reduced levels of estrogen hormone.

Pakistan Economic Crisis Deepens as Oil, Ghee Prices Soar to Record Highs; What’s Next?

0

[ad_1]

The Pakistan government on Wednesday, June 1, hiked the rates of ghee and cooking oil by as much as Rs 208 and Rs 213 respectively, in an unexpected move. The rates have come into effect on the day amid fears of an economic crisis, which comes at a time when Sri Lanka, the island nation of south Asia, is facing a similar disaster for months. The latest announcement by the Pakistan government sent shockwaves throughout the country, which is already battling an imminent economic crisis.

An official of the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) told ANI that with this hike, the price of food oil and ghee would be at an all-time high of Rs 555 per kg and Rs 605 per litre, which was Rs 540-560 per kg in the retail market. “USC had issued a notification of this whooping jump in ghee and cooking oil rates effective June 1,” Pakistan’s leading newspaper Dawn reported, without specifying a reason for this sudden move. Oil and ghee prices have risen 300 per cent in Pakistan over the last three months, and has gone over the ceiling with Indonesia’s palm oil export ban.

According to the Dawn report quoting Secretary-General of Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (PVMA), Umer Islam Khan, the retail prices of ghee and cooking oil would soon come on a par with USC will soon come down in accordance with USC rates. USC, a state-owned firm, operates throughout Pakistan to provide goods at subsidised rates to citizens.

Khan said that the manufacturers of cooking oil and ghee have stopped giving the products on credit to the USC as the corporation had not cleared outstanding Rs 2-3 billion to the manufacturers, ANI reported.

Pakistani Rupee at Lowest in May

As per a report by Bloomberg, the Pakistani rupee is set for its biggest monthly decline in two years amid spiralling finances and uncertainty over the International Monetary Fund’s bailout plan. The Pakistani rupee has declined by 7 per cent in May, registering its sharpest drop since March 2020, as the country struggles to keep its economy on track while negotiating on a bailout package with the IMF and other countries.

“Pakistan is to repay USD 21 billion in foreign debt in the next fiscal year, so it is a must to enter the International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan programme (worth USD 6 billion) to arrange the required financing,” ANI quoted the country’s finance minister Miftah Ismail as saying.

Pakistan will need $36 billion to $37 billion in financing for the fiscal year starting June, Ismail added. The international bonds of the country have lost one-third of its value, with the country yet to reach a bailout agreement with the IMF. The minister said that Pakistan is not in a position to raise foreign debts and the only way to come out of this is to control inflation. However, that does not look like a plausible scenario in the immediate future, with the government announcing sharp price hikes in basic items.

Bitcoin Price Over $31,000 but Snaps Winning Streak; Ether in Red

0

[ad_1]

Cryptocurrency Price Today: Bitcoin price on Wednesday, June 1, remained steady above the $31,000 mark, after days of choppy sessions amid volatile markets. Bitcoin prices have remained above $31,000 for two straight days now. However, the global cryptocurrency market did not register much growth on the day, as it remained flat at $1.30 trillion, which was a slight decrease of 0.40 per cent over the past 24 hours.

Bitcoin price today fell by 0.34 per cent to stand at $31,549.32 at the time of writing this article. However, it managed to hold its position above the $31,000 level. On the other hand, Ether price today was standing at $1,935.16, falling by 1.88 per cent over the past 24 hours.

“Bitcoin maintained its position above the $31K mark. Meanwhile, Institutional investors have started accumulating Bitcoin again after a few weeks of lull. According to Coinshares, a digital asset management firm, crypto assets saw an inflow of $87 million of which Bitcoin had the major share of around $69 million. This is also being reflected in the market sentiment as the fear & greed index continued to  move away from the “extreme fear” zone. The weekly trend for Bitcoin has formed a descending triangle pattern. The next resistance for BTC is expected at $40,000,” said the WazirX trade desk.

“Bitcoin moved up more than 5% in the last two days, coinciding with the Fed Governor’s re-emphasis on his support for more half-point rate hikes. Bitcoin’s long standing narrative as a store of value and inflation hedge is once again becoming prominent as dip buyers return on prospective value growth,” said the CoinDCX Research Team.

“A bleak macroeconomic environment has typically been a negative for risk assets — Bitcoin’s recent rise and decoupling from that scenario could be something worth looking further into. While it may still be early at this point to call the bottom, we remain optimistic on the digital asset’s growth trajectory over the longer term,” it added.

“Though BTC showed optimistic signals, altcoins continued to underperform in comparison, indicating that investors were still taking a risk-off approach. Typically alts underperform BTC during downtrends as investors remain cautious as they have a higher risk profile,” noted Darshan Bathija, CEO and co founder of Vauld.
